Freedom AV (zeroknowlege) finds Bagle.Z and asks to delete infected files.
I say yeah, delete files! Now files I need are gone...IE, rundll32 are two
I know of, also, can't access disk software (can't go on internet because
have no IE, but can't load IE from a disk either), can't print from Eudora,
wierd stuff...I believe about 12 files were deleted. Any ideas on what can I
do??? (PS...this is coming from a friend's computer!)

Read this concerning Freedom AV:

Looks like it's reformat and reinstall time.

If you are on WIN ME or XP, try a system restore, from a point before you
installed Freedom AV. Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools.

If Win 9x, looks like a reinstall. You might be able to get away with a
reinstall on top of the old, or you might have to reformat (ouch). There IS
a way tio reinstall in a different folder without reformatting. MS tech
support walked me though that process one day, but it was a complicated
procedure with manual registry changes. Perhaps you can find instructions
for that somewhere out there to avoid the reformat. Then uninstall Freedom
AV.

If IE still doesn't work after that, you may have to resort to the
eradicator. I had a similar problem with EI where some of it's files got
corrupted and it would not run. Tried to reinstall but the MS setup program
said I already had it on my system and would not allow a reinstall, even on
a different drive or folder. So of couse I figured I would run the
Uninstall for IE. Went to look for it. There isn't one! There is no way
to get IE off a computer through normal means (MS bastards!). Go here for
the eradicator if you need it ( http:\\www.litePC.com ), or even better
switch to Mozilla. Or do both.

wow... that's pretty damning... what a spectacular programming error...

definitely have to keep this one in mind next time someone asks for an
opinion on freedom av...

....or when they are thinking that having any scanner decide what to delete,
and take the action without asking the user first, is a *good* idea. ;o)
