Registry Rescue

Repairs problem and fragmented registry

Over the time, your Windows registry in which your PC store all your system
information (Windows, hardware, and software) is no longer valid and
gradually becomes cluttered and fragmented.

Registry Rescue scan, removes, and repairs invalid entries, references and
links in your Windows registry. Errors in your registry, and stuff left
behind by other programs in your registry are one of the main causes of
system slow down, computer crashes and lockups, also a potential privacy
threats. By repairing errors in the registry your system's performance will
be visibly increased.
Registry Rescue also performs physical defragmentation of the Windows
registry file. After defragmentation your registry will acquire linear
structure which will reduce application response time and registry access
time.

10-day trialware.

Actually, much worse--it doesn't seem to expire, though it is -severely-
crippled. Gave it a whirl, just for fun, and found that it scans quite
nicely but will not -repair- any thing unless you first register.
CrippleWare of the worst kind: The free version doesn't do a damned thing.

At this page:

http://www.downloadfreetrial.com/utilities/registry_tools.html

the program is listed as shareware. The download is an installation
executable. I'm not going to run it to install it just to find out
though. Maybe somebody else is more adventuresome.

I'm not quite as adventurous as you, though I'm thankful for your
info. I got as far as the EUL and stopped installation and promptly
erased the file.

I'm recklessly curious :-)

As near as I can tell, it's a subscription service. Six bucks a month
authorizes you to use (all)? their software -- to all of which there are
free alternatives.
