This is one I couldn't trust to the archives as the hits brought up
spam!! Sheesh.

I need to join a free webpage service and I know there are some out
there that allow for a lot of storage but I can't find references to
them (I goofed and didn't save the info properly <sigh>). I need more
than the usual 5 megs or so given. A minimum of 10 would be alright
but 15 (or more, of course <g>) would be perfect.

Can anyone recommend something that is safe? I've heard some aren't
which is why I don't just sign up with the first one that comes along
in a search. And I don't know what to look for to avoid.

Thanks much, everyone!

The one hosting my page is for 20 megs - have yet to receive any spam
beyond "thanks for joining".

It's not that free.........

<snip>
........to offer free web site hosting to individuals that have their own
domain names.

Restrictions:

The account must not exceed 100MB of transfer each month.
100MB = 10,000 web site hits at 10KB each.

The hosting of adult or illegal material is not permitted.
The hosting of MP3 files is not permitted unless you are the copyright owner
of the files.
PHP, Perl, and other CGI executables other than Escapade are not supported
or allowed on Free Webhosting.

It also assumes you are going to purchase a domain name, or have one already
(kinda deafeats the object in my opinion).

The folks at http://www.mher.org don't seem to offer any sort of template
for the website they give you- do I need to figure out my newly-installed
Frontpage 2003 in order to present something attractive-looking on their
servers? All I relly want is a web page to which I can refer others when I
need to share a specific file which is too large to be emailed, but I
wouldn't mind it if the page I sent those individuals to had something nice
to look at while they downloaded the file.

I've signed up and successfully uploaded a jpg file which I *can* access,
but so far my "page" just looks like this:
http://www.members.mher.org/uncle_ian/

Thanks,
Ian.

For me it's just a play site. I have a grown-up one at 1and1. :)

If that's all you want it for, why don't you use Yahoo Briefcase? Simple,
and free

the free pages at mher are temporarily suspended while the fbi conducts
a paypal investigation. been this way for 3 or 4 days...

Some users were using the free hosting service to make fake paypal
pages. An
FBI investigation is underway and we had to suspend the free service
until
everything is clear. However, you can expet that the service will be
back in
a couple of days.
