Just wondering if there are any sites that offer free stock music/sound
effects.

I hear the same sound effects in many flash animations, and I am just
wondering if there is a music library out there that people get this stuff
from. I would like to include these kinds of sound effects in PowerPoint.

most importatntly I am looking for some free, stock music. nothing
lyrical.. just some ambient, instrumental stuff. I would look into some of
those royalty-free music sites, but i don't have a credit card to pay for the
music, and I kinda need to find music before the end of the weekend. so a
free stock music site is what Im looking for right now.

thanks.

Try looking in http://flashkit.com for sound loops and sound fx. You will
need to look at the license type while using them though. Some are considered
free, while some are linkware or shareware.

There is also a list of free music on this Indezine's article. Scroll to the
bottom and check out the links:

If you are looking for instrumental may I suggest you use midi files? You
can find all sorts of them that are royalty free and they are MUCH smaller
than sound files.

On Flashkit.com, is there a way to order these sound loops by "length"?
These are great little tracks, but I find they are too repetative when played
over a minute.

I'm looking for a loop that can run for 5-10 minutes without getting on your
nerves, so preferably the lopp would be 45sec - 1min long.

Have you seen any loops at that length on that site? most are around 10sec.
and I saw one at 27sec.. but nothing higher than that.

That's probably why they are call loops? ;-)
I'm unaware of any long music for free. 5 - 10 minutes are considered long
IMO and they probably won't be free.

Oh no.. I wasn't looking for a single file that was 5-10min.. just a file
that will still sound GOOD after hearing it in the background for 5-10min.

I am comming accross a few 30sec loops now.. and I'm hoping to find a few
that are 40sec - 1 min long. But it would be nice if i could sort / search
these loops by length to make it easier. I don't suppose you would know how?

Anyway, this is AWSOME resource regardless.

thanks,

//and to anyone else out there, if you know of more good sites out there
like flashkit, go ahead and reply. the more the better. thanks.

Austin, I will keep that option in mind, but I've never been a fan of midi
sound files. Pianos and harps sound great on them.. but to emulate modern
music with a midi file always sounded strange to me.

But then again, the last time I heard one was about 5 years ago. And there
have probably been improvements to the format since then. I will definately
look around for them if this flashkit website doesnt work out.

Do you know of any particular sites that offer midi loops?

Flash (before this latest version) actually had a music and sound effect
library. That may be why you're hearing so many similar sounds.
