Free Space on my Primary HDD keeps decreasing

Hi.

I am running Windows XP Service Pack 2. I got 2 hard drives installed. The
computer is not and has not been connected to the Internet.

There is something very weird happening with my primary hard drive, the one
on which Windows is installed.

Without me doing any sort of significant changes, the free space on the
respective HDD keeps decreasing. I temporarily store stuff on it, such as a
DVD movie or photos, but I always delete them after storing them on media, so
I have no idea why the space keeps decreasing.

At first, I had about 8 gigabytes free after installing all the programs I
needed. When it dropped to about 7.15 GB, I started getting worried. I had no
idea why it became less and less, even though I deleted the exact same stuff
I had put on it a few days before. Then I got 7.10, 7.02, 6.98, 6.91, 6.88,
6.79, 6.70, 6.66, 6.60 (yesterday), and now it's down to 6.59. Every time I
turn the computer back on, some space vanishes.

I am really worried about this. I ran 'Disk Cleanup', 'Disk Defragmenter', I
checked it for errors, I also ran the program called 'Clean Disk 2003', but
it never recovers too much space, and yet the amount of space still available
keeps decreasing by 50-100 MB every time I shut down and power up again.
Eventually, I will run out of room, I imagine, if this continues.

Could anybody tell me what is there to be done, please? I would appreciate
it very, very much! Thanks in advance!

Turn off System Restore.. Set your registry to clear the pagefile at
shutdown (turn it back off after a couple of reboots - it slows the shutdown
process enormously) and see if that gets your space back.
