You might want to check this out. http://powerbullet.com/ I know nothing
about it, though. I downloaded it then turned around and got Office with
PowerPoint so haven't delved into powerbullet. Do know it's capable of
sounds.

Slideshows with background music:
Irfanview at www.irfanview.com. Follow the instructions to create a
self-executing slideshow or screensaver. Set the first slide to be an MP3
and it will continue to play as the subsequent photos play.
gPhotoshow at www.gphotoshow.com. You "point" the program toward a directory
of photos and a directory of music / sounds and it will play both. Doesn't
produce slideshows that you can send to others though.
Unsure about freeware that will synch music/ sounds to specific photos. You
could check out:
MyAlbum : http://pmeindre.free.fr/MyAlbum.html
Image Forge : http://www.cursorarts.com/ca_imffw.html It has a screensaver /
slideshow function.
Also, you might consider Sbookbuilder at:
www.jansfreeware.com. This produces self-contained HTML ebooks wherein you
could combine images and sounds.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but I came across
Slide Show Movie Maker (SSMM) a few years ago and used it to create an
avi of our photos from a trip to Europe complete with music in the
background. Excellent program:
