Anyone know of any free software that contains the tools to find out
information on people such as if they're married, have a police record, are
deeply in debt, etc? All I come up with are paid software and/or places
like USsearch.

Thanks :-)

If you're bit suspicious of your new boyfriend, trust your intuition.
Women's intuition (freeware) works a lot better than the male version for
some reason, BTW.

Regards,
Ian.

Ian. I am happily married thank you. :-) It's my single friends and
several relatives who are running into problems meeting others who are
trying to *hide* things. Think Amber Frey. Example: One of my neighbors,
age 52 met a wonderful women online, finally got to meet her, they dated for
some months, and she moved in with him. Once in his home he starts to see
things he didn't see while dating her. He soon learns some things she was
hiding all along, and now is having a problem getting rid of her. Had he
known she was married 4 times before (by age 49), owed over $25,000 to Visa,
was in a mental hospital in another state for several years - he would never
have met her, no less got so deeply involved. A cousin met a really nice
guy, was falling in love with him, then discovers he's married and has
several children! She was devastated. I live in a rural area where it's
hard for older singles to meet a lot of people locally. Many can't afford
these "search" services. Some don't even have computers. I was thinking of
doing checks on those they meet BEFORE they get too deeply involved since I
spend so much time online anyway.

Please see my post under the name of Spammie. Unfortunately, you can't
always depend in "intuition."

It seems to be freely available to those who can afford to *pay* these
search websites. After what some of my friends and family have experienced
in the past few years, I myself would want to know someone's background
before getting involved. I live in an area where many of the people are
from other states - and they can easily hide their pasts. See my post under
the name SPAMMY.

That sounds eminently sensible, Karen. However, for those among your
friends and relatives who find themselves in the difficulties you
describe above, the freeware answer is a lead-weighted basball bat and
a deep hole somewhere in the remote countryside.

You did say you lived in a rural area...

:) as a less drastic alternative. . . you can often get some
information about a person just by doing a Google search. (address,
phone number and more. . . )

Hi, Karen:

Your intentions are obviously noble but I'd encourage you to not employ
the "super powers" the internet provides you with for such purposes.
Think Star Trek's "Prime Directive."

Can you imagine what life might be like for you in your relatively
computer-free neck of the woods if you actually did acquire the ultimate
software for the purposes you have in mind? You'd either become, or feel
obligated to become, the final arbiter of whether or not fledgling
relationships were of any value; an Oracle with a 1024 X 768 pixel crystal
ball.

You're happily married to the right person and so am I, and we both did it
without the aid of the internet. My wife and I both suffered through
previous relationships we really could have done without, but we learned
something from each of them. Trial and error, painful lessons learned,
etc. We might not even have looked ideal to each other on paper if we'd
had the opportunity to do research beforehand way back then, but it worked
out anyway. If we'd been able to put each other under the internet
microscope ahead of time, we might have never had our first date. And
that was 25 years ago.

Regards,
Ian.

I don't know why my reply didn't show up here explaining *WHY* I was
interested in such software. Yes, I'm aware of privacy laws but if you have
the cash to pay these online SEARCH services. the information is indeed
freely available.
