Hi. Could anyone recommend a decent freeware PIM (personal information
manager). I was well impressed with Ximian Evolution under Linux, but I
can't get away with Linux. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Desktop software 4.1 for Windows

You do not require a palm to use this software. Good PIM.

Registration required but only for download link.

Thanks very much. I'll give them a try.

I use Bottin, unfortunately, you'd have to Google. I like
Bottin as you can print envelopes using the address and you
can even have a picture of the addressee in your listing.

1) If you want a program with a calendar and appointment scheduling as
wel as a notes manager, with the possibility of tables (you can add
columns and multiply rows) and phone dialing, as well as an RPN
calculator: XDesk95 (last freeware version: 2.11.0.0). I am not sure
where it can be found nowadays.

2) If you want a notes manager: TreePad (freeware version). Plain text
only but very good overall, good search facility, uncluttered
interface. There is a third party utility for making a calendar so
that TreePad can be used easily as a diary (of course you can do this
manually as well). (www.treepad.com)

3) Another recommendation for KeyNote (btw, it can import Treepad
files), a more complex and even more versatile notes manager, RTF
formatting, tabs as well as a notes tree and much more. However, I
much prefer TreePad's tree search feature.

I was using Palm Desktop for a quite while but grew very frustrated with the
non-standard use of Shift-Delete. This SHOULD delete text to the clipboard. When
using memos in Palm Desktop, BEWARE as it deletes the entire memo! Probably not
a concern for the majority of folks who don't have these keyboard shortcuts
burned into their brain...

I'm now using Task Plus (thanks to a mention on this newsgroup!) for my calendar
& task lists, but it doesn't have an address book function (for which I
alternate between my email address book and Windows Address book.) Fairly
inoffensive banner ad. http://www.contactplus.com/
