Free PDF editing software?

If what you want is a way to create pdfs with images, OpenOffice
exports a document with images (like a .doc, .rtf,etc.) to pdf.
*but* if what you want is something like Acrobat to edit existing
pdfs, I dont know that there is such a thing. I think that EasyOffice
(kind of adware tho') has some options to edit pdfs, but that software
has annoying nags.

Thanks for your answer.
Indeed I want to edit existing PDF files like in Acrobat or - and that's
the software I use at the moment - in Jaws PDF Editor. And I only use it
for concatenating PDFs (different apps but belong to same (printed)
document, like a report (e.g. Word) and some tables (e.g. Excel)).

I can't imagine, what's so difficult about editing PDF files, that there
is no freeware capable of that. But maybe there are some license fees to
Adobe or someone else...

What a pity.

It depends what you mean by "edit."

If you want to actually change text, like in a word processing
environment, than I've only seen commercial programs that claim to
convert PDF to MS Word.

If you want to move pages around, remove some, add some then you can
use Fytek PDF Meld (it might have gone shareware). I use FreePDF from
<www.shbox.de> It won't do page by page manipulation but it will join
PDFs. I just "print to PDF" the pages I want and then join them all
together.

I've heard that Ghostscript can also extract pages and join files, but
I've never played with that functionality.
