I was told that you can get mcafee antvirus software program to download for
free from the mcafee.com site but can't seem to find it.Does anyone by any
chance know if there is a mcafee antivirus to download for free from
somewhere, and if so could you please tell me where as i would like to get a
hold of it.Obviously there are peer to peer appl. i know of and have but
they aren't exactly full proof most of the time.I have avg but want to get
hold of a mcafee free download antivirus and not just a demo one.Could you
be so kind in helping me out on this one if you know of anywhere i can get
hold of it to download for free.

Much appreciated

I don't think you will find a legal copy for free. They do offer the full
package, but at the special price of $39.95 instead of $59.95.

Other AV vendors that offer a free version of their software make the
download reasonably obvious.

Incidentally, a very good anti-virus/anti-spam technique is not using your
real e-mail address in a Usenet posting.

it may be that someone was referring to stinger (
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ ) which is, in essence, a free anti-virus
program from mcafee. Other than that I would not imagine you would gain any
advantages over AVG from the standard mcafee products, at least now that AVG
seem to have surmounted their update problem, for a while!

It was once possible from their ftp-site. They have blocked that quite
a long ago.

I don't think it is a good idea to get people thinking that "Stinger" is
an anti-virus program. It is a somewhat limited malware removal
program - *not* an anti-virus program.
