Tis not free.........

"a free download version is available to existing users of the product for
either Microsoft Windows or Mac OS. Follow the Download link to complete the
registration survey and download the software."

Note the words "existing users", "registration"

From a friend who downloaded this I learned that it does not require a
serial number and announces itself as version 3.3 BETA.
You should be aware that it is a 60Meg download however and that you require
a .NET passport to get at it.

Bearing in mind that Micro$oft are not noted for their philanthropic
instincts, it is more than likely that the thing will expire in due course
and invite you to purchasre the release version.

If you really want to take the time to download it, it can be found at:

http://download.microsoft.com/downl...8-6de48d7b569f/CreatureHouseExpression3_3.exe
(watch for possible URL wrapping).

Personally, I regard it as regrettable that Micro$haft have bought the code.
Creature House had a really good product in Expression. Not a well known
graphics app but none the less up there with the likes of Adobe and
Macromedia.
The combination of bitmap and vector art in one app was the killer advantage
IMHO.

Would that be what was the old Fractal Design Expression?

Yes...and while it is supposed to be for existing users, the installer
does not check
to see if you have an old version. I can't find a Last Free Version. Not
sure there ever was one. Not sure if I want to download and use this or
not. Its not like Microsoft to give you something for free.

I would at least expected some sort of verification that you are eligible to
download it-but not even Corel or Adobe offers a free to use vector
illustration application, but MS does-they used to have PhotoDraw, but it's
great to see a MS drawing app released for free.
