Hi

I've been using Zonelabs free firewall for some time now, it does it's job
fine, but the only problem is i have to disable it when paying online gaming
as it causes lag spikes every minute or so, and this leaves my pc open to
attacks.

What other free firewall is good but doesn't cause this problem?

TIA

Use the one built into XP.

I'm so grateful to the USA for their contribution to the war on terror.
After all, if they hadn't funded the IRA for 30 years, we wouldn't know
what terror was.

Kerio is fairly decent. Has a (IMO) steep learning curve though. There's
also Tiny Personal Firewall, but I have no experience with it. HTH

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

if you have an old computer laying around you could use linux and make a
dedicated firewall.

Hmmm, I've been using ZA for several years now, and I get no "once a minute"
lag spikes while gaming. Have you tried turning off the log and update
functions of ZA?

Me either, and I've played for tens of hours at a time.

May as well.

sygate personal works a charm, however I still shut down any firewall
while gaming...I find that routing UDP pacs is time consuming
