In alt.comp.freeware, on 17 Dec 2003, announced:
Does anyone know of a good free email client?
Ok Firstly, have you done *anything* at all to try and find one
yourself? There are *many* free email clients.
Also what is your definition of 'good'? What features would you
like in this email client?
Do a search in your favourite search engine - Google is a good
one - for something like:
+freeware +"email client" +download +"home page"
and see how many results you come up with. Personally I like
putting 'download' in there so hopefully you get a download link,
ditto "home page".
Then, try as many of the email clients you find that seem to meet
your needs.
If you still can't find anything, *then* come back here and say
"I am looking for an email client that does X, Y and Z. I have
tried program A, but it was not suitable because nnn, I have
tried program B......" etc. Then people will be able to give you
a better response. There is no point in recommending Popcorn
when you need Pegasus.
... If so please
email me at (e-mail address removed).
This is a newsgroup. If you ask a question in the group, the
least you can do is have the courtesy to read the responses in
the group. Aside from anything else, there might be 10 other
people reading the group who were wondering the same thing you
were, but didn't ask because you just did. If people reply to
you by email then those other 10 people won't ever see the
response and will either never find out the answer, or will annoy
the hell out of those who do know the answer, by making them
answer the same question 11 times...
Good luck. Unfortunately, it's not the people who actually
'read' the message and see those words you have to worry about,
it's the bots that spammers send trawling through all the
newsgroups, looking for email addresses to add to their list who
will get spam sent to you.
