Mark,
I don't use Nero, but it seems that like most DVD software, it can take a
DV-AVI file and do the conversion to MPEG and burn the DVD....
One common issue is that some software needs type II DV-AVI files and MM2
produces type I. So something like the free Canopus DV Converter (link on
the Setup > Software page of my website) is needed.
If you have software that is bundled with your burner, I don't consider it
free.... it's a package price. If you look for other DVD authoring/burning
software, it seems you'll need to pay a price as the MPEG2 codecs are
licensed and the licensing fee needs to be paid somehow.
The comments on the DVD Software > Nero Vision Express page of my site, and
the link to some Nero info, seems to say that an additional item is needed
from Nero if you want to convert WMV files..... I'd assume it'll use DV-AVI
files without additional software (converted to type II first if needed)....
I'd appreciate some feedback if the type II file is needed for Nero Vision
Express, so I can add it to the top of the page.

Hello John many thanks for your help! I have several cd/dvd burner
programs and a DVD burner. The problem is that the compatibilty converting
the MM2 file to a DVD format. I get error messages telling mew that the
process is not compatible.
I am currently using Nero Express (DVD version) for most of my DVD stuff.
Most messages I have read recommend Nerovision or Sonic MyDVD. I can't find
any software that mentions the ability to convert MM2 files to DVD other
than the software you have to pay for.....I didn't think it would of been a
hard task, but apparently so.....
