Er, Free Download Manager (!)
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/

Works with Firefox, etc.

Works fine for me with XP-SP2 but I can't get it to fully integrate
with Opera 7.54. It will only work if download address is pasted to
clipboard and then added to FDM download list from there. The
intercept feature only works with IE6 for me.

Hi Brian,

I've been using FDM for a few weeks, and I was able to integrate with
Opera 7.54.
I believe that you need to reboot your system after installing FDM.
After that, checking FDM's Opera box should work and an FDM plugin
(npfdm.dll) will be in Opera's plugin directory.

My friend has downloadstudio, they are pretty cool.
You are able to take-out servers for images, website-files, etc.
not free though ;(.

Been trying to find them in e-Bay.

You must know for your self, which download manager will bee the best.

I use DLExpert (http://www.yanew.com/) since 2001 and I'm happy with this
program.

I have started again (last month) to use DLExpert. I used Star
Downloader (the freeware version) for several years but last month, I
bought a new comp & Star Downloader worked until I upgraded to XP
SP-2. Because Star Downloader doesn't work with XP SP-2, I switched
back to DLExpert & it works great & it runs perfectly with no hiccups
on XP SP-2.

DLExpert is the best downloader for XP SP-2 but Star Downloader will
not work if you upgrade to XP SP-2.

Not so. I use it!

I use Stardownloader on SP-2 ok but I read somewhere that its no
longer freeware - might give the others a try soon!

There are 2 versions of Star Downloader, the old freeware version &
the shareware version. The freeware version is Star Downloader 1.43 &
the shareware version is Star Downloader Pro 1.51. The freeware
version is unsupported but it can be downloaded from the official Star
Downloader site at http://www.stardownloader.com/downloads.php?PHPSESSID=5bd652cbb0732bff92d24144610b8e21
