Hello guys!

I found this extremely useful converter from STOIK. Especially useful to
convert MPEG2 to Microsoft DV AVI format. I don't think this conversion is
possible by any other freeware?
http://www.stoik.com/products/svc/

The basic converter is free but the PRO functionality can be activated by
registering for $29...
Now before you think I am advertising... :-) let me explain why I am
mentioning this: I have just discovered that this PRO functionality is not
sufficiently hidden in the freeware version 2.1.0.0 and can be activated by
a simple menu selection of View -> Text Labels.

Download ASAP as I don't think the free lunch will last much longer :-D

Thanks Rehan. I downloaded it myself and will check it out tomorrow.
Of course converting to DV-AVI, as you well know, will not regain the lost
quality of converting.
Just thought I would throw that out there for everybody else.
Also an FYI: When you go to the download page it asks for an Email address.
You can type in anything that looks like an email address and you will get
access to the download, especially since the actual file is located at CNet
Downloads.

Very true. The conversion is only useful if one has no other option but to
to bring the MPEG2 video clips for editing in Movie Maker.

Btw, Papajohn's recent newsletter talked about this topic. The conversion he
did required him to use Panasonic DV codec in VirtualDubMod. However VDM
cannot use DirectShow codecs such as Microsoft DV codec or WMV profiles,
which the STOIK converter can do.
