Free Converter from WMV file to AVI?

Is there a free tool that I may use to convert WMV to AVI since this is the
only format that Nero Vision Express identifies. I don't want to use MM2 to
save again a project into DV-AVI format that really eat ups time.

Nero Vision Express 3 can import the following formats...

ASF, AVI, DAT (VCD), DV, DVR-MS, MPeg, MPG, MPE, MP4, ND (Nero Digital), VOB
and WMV

Perhaps you need to upgrade from an earlier version,
or,
just import it to Movie Maker and export it as AVI...MM does a very good job of
that.

Install the wma plug-in for nero and you should have no problem (works for
..wmv also)
