Don't be alarmed by the install which is in German, the interface is in
English. The program once installed will display a pop-up "No opening
Books loaded", however the game still plays well without known openings
moves. The original link was found from a German magazine called pcGO at
http://www.pcgo.de/aktuell/ausgabe0103/default.php Nothing like a free
chess program to improve your skills.

WinBoard is very good, too. A lot of features.
