So do people think the talk-talk offer of free broadband is a good idea?
What puts me off is the 18 month contract & that speeds may be up to 8MB. If they get a high volume of customers joining the speeds could go down? To de-conect you have to pay £70 & pay the balance of your contract?

Talk-talk say they are going to go from 750k customers to 5,000,000 in between 6 months & 18 moths, will their service be able to cope? And if not what happens?

I'm probably going to go with them myself in the next 6 weeks (moving flat), as my dad has been using for them for a while and really likes them. They should be able to handle the capacity easily enough, the only problem I can forsee is support - I think someone mentioned waiting ages on the phone in the other thread.

I'd really like to hear from any other customers too before I make the leap :)

I just think 18 months is a bit too much

also the other worry is the phone call prices

it wouldnt suprise me if next week some new director takes over the company and decides to up the prices of phonecalls without notification,

im not so sure it just looks too dodgy for my liking just yet

the good points is that
other companies will try to match this offer, one day bband will be free all over
and this is when I will proabably wait for it!

untill then I do not feel like being the TEST for time!

I just wish they had some sort of genuine competition over here. the prices for broadband over here are ridiculous & the speeds very slow.
there are really only the two providers here & since telstra-clear has to lease the bandwidth off telecom in the first place then they're not really in a good position to undercut telecom.
Eventually we'll catch up with the rest of the world... but they're taking their time about it.
