free 3d program to make images looking as 3d

Hi,

Is there any free program who allow me to take a picture (icon, BMP,
whatever), and give it a 3D appearance?
What I'm looking for is to make that image like being draw on a 3d surface.
Like buttons in AIM (when move mouse over them they get a 3D look)

It s not 3D :) it s 2D ,i dono for AIM and i dono wich system you use ,
but for linux kde can manage the vectori icon and it can do a animation
when mouse over it :) (like mac os x system too )

Do you mean like what you get if you open a picture in IrfanView and go
Image - Effects - 3D Button?
