free 30 day download

I downloaded a free 30 version of Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition. At the end of 30 days, I was unable to
purchase. It locked my computer up. I then went and
purchased what I thought was the correct software, instead
it was an updated version. It will not recognize the
updated version. Help?

What is the exact version of each? (Home, Pro...Full, Upgrade)
 
Their is no 30 day version of Windows XP. after you install it you get 30
days to activate.
