Ok guys and gals. I have the new Windows XP Media edition OS on my computer.
Just recently when I auto-updated my computer, DVDs will not play correctly
in Media or any other software (interDVD, etc.). The video and sound will
play, but it's choppy and distorted. I've done the troubleshooting in
"help/troubleshoot", and still come up empty handed. Please assist as best
you can.

Thanks

It sounds like you inadvertently installed a driver from Windows Update.
Do you have a Dell? There was an Intel video driver on Windows Update
that messed up quite a few computers. Try rolling back your video
driver per this Microsoft article: http://tinyurl.com/86yb6

Don't install drivers from Windows Update. I think it is better to set
Automatic Updating to download the updates automatically but to prompt
you when they are ready for installation. Then take the "Custom"
installation option instead of the default "Express" option. This will
let you see what updates you're installing. Generally you will always
want to install security updates but say "no" to driver updates.
