How can I frame a picture? Are there ready made frames that you can select to drop a picture into?

You can use any of the AutoShapes as a frame - use a picture fill for the
AutoShape.

You can also create ornate frames in Adobe Photoshop or similar applications
that have alpha channels - so that the picture can be seen through the
frame:

You can also use a product like Professor Franklin's or Kai's PhotoSoap that
allows you to frame pictures and export them to a picture format that
PowerPoint can understand.

George,
You can use any of the autoshapes as frames. Draw the shape on your slide,
right click it and select format. Click the drop down arrow for the fill
and select Fill Effects. Click the picture tab, then the select picture
button. navigate to your picture. OK your way back to the slide and the
autoshape will become a nice frame around the center of the picture.

Does that make sense?

FYI: There is an article on my site all about the different uses for
autoshapes. Check it out at URL:
