Hallo,

I tried to install the Framework 2.0 beta redist on Windows NT 4.0 and got
the message:

"Incorrect operating system"

Which Versions will be supported by the Client Redist?

Why is Windows 98 supported but not Windows NT4.0SP6 with IE 6.0?

Thanks,
Dieter

Hi Dieter,

Because the .net framework 2.0 has not been released, we can not provide
the official information about the problem.
For the beta product, I think you may try the newsgroup below.

Hi Dieter,

The reason is that NT4's life cycle will end at the end of this year, while
..net framework 2.0 will likely ship in 2005. So 2.0 will not support NT4.
While win98, for better or worse, will end of its life cycle in 2006.
Here is a link you may take a look.

Hi Peter,

because our Customers will use Windows NT4.0 for the next 3 or 4 Years,
we will not be able to use the new features of the Framework 2.0.
I think this is an inacceptable limitation.

By my own development experience I think it is easier to support Windows
NT4.0 than Windows 98.
