Fragmented File

I created a 2.8 GB AVI file which Windows XP chose to lay
down 298 fragments. I had 47 GB of free space (newly
defragmented, so most of it was contiguous.) I ran
defrag. again and the file is still in 298 pieces. How
much of a problem is this and how do I fix it if Windows
won't?

If the drive is defragged now, maybe copy the file to a new file, check to
see that the new one isn't fragmented, and then delete the fragmented one,
and defrag again.
