Fractions

Im workind with fractions, I need my fraction info show with the whole number
in one size, and the fraction is a smaller size. Is the re any way I can do
that?

Hi Angel1,
You would have to format as text and then it would no longer be a number,
and it would no longer be formula..

You can format part of a text string from the formula bar, but to actually
get the effect you want in Excel would be even more complicated as
you would have to merge cells vertically for the whole number and
use unmerged cells for the numerator and denominator. unless
you want 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 which are characters themselves..

I guess you know about fraction format. Unfortunately, tho it
will give 3 digits, it will only work for the fractional part of
the number. Thus 3.17578125 is 3 45/256 and that is how it will
display, not 813/256. I believe the last is what you wanted.
The arithmetic terminology talks about "proper" and "improper"
fractions but I can never remember which is which! I'm not too
good on numerator and denominator either :)
