Now that I have a computer which will be able to run new games to a decent extent, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a few FPS games which I might be wise to try out?

The last one I bought was Stalker - not even clear sky - so thats how far out of the loop I am with new games.

The new Farcry is good also Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

Of course not forgetting the Call of Duty series ;)

All of the Call Of Duty games, mostly for online but single player games are still good.
Far Cry Two will show your card off, it is good, although somewhat monotonous:

Cheapies:

Bioshock
Timeshift
Painkiller Universe (all 3 Painkiller games in a budget package)
FEAR & 2 add-ons

Halo 2 but it only works in Vista
The Orange Box (All the Half Life Two games plus Portal)
Left for Dead is great fun, if a little one dimensional.
FEAR 2: Project Origin
Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood looks good.

Not a lot about atm but quite a few new titles being released in the next few months.

I grabbed Stalker Clear Sky a week ago - and its pretty good. After patches anyway.
Cant fault Flops choices, even if most of them are older.
As for Crysis, hit or miss - I liked it, until the game changes....

Uh, nope ;)

I also liked Crysis until..... well, until you had to fly that aircraft really but the space sequence, travelling through that cavern place was also pants.

And it was hopelessly over-specced for the video cards at the time, still gives a top range 275 a run for it's money so I hear. I mean, what's the point of that? By the time a card comes out that runs Crysis really fluid at top res, it will be hopelessly outdated.

But Crysis: Warhead - Me like :)

CoD4, forget WaW wait for MW2. :)

I quite like WAW online, imo it's easily as good as CoD4 but I must admit the single player game was a bit below par.

Apart from the dogs, of course

I think I'm on that bit at the moment  haven't yet completed it, gave up after a few attempts of crashing.

It plays like an FPS but its really an RPG....it can be played in first person shooter or third person depending on the part of the game....i got fed upwith it cos its so big and there's an awful lot of ground to be covered...i must go back to it...at the moment i have timeshift, cod2, and gow2 on the go as well as Fallout 3...no wonder i cant sleep LOL;)
