Andy,
Will any of the dependencies that were broken when SP2 came out be fixed in
the FP2007?
Long list mentioned in the SP2 Release notes, example Hnetcfg.dll being
left out of Core Networking or File Sharing unless the entire firewall is
brought in.

I figured some of these would have been fixed in QFE's but since they are
all rolled up in FP2007 it must not be.

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard, thanks for the feedback. For FP2007 questions, can you please
post these to the Beta newsgroup in the future? You can sign up at the
Connect site for the private NG, will take about 4 hours to enable.

Hnetcfg.dll is a home networking configuration feature owned by the firewall
component. We have a work item to investigate refactoring this binary out
and re-cooking components in order to satisfy some dependencies like yours
and also keep footprint down , but you really should file a bug on the
specific dependency issues of interest to you so it doesn't fall through the
cracks.

I'm allocating several additional weeks of investigation and prototyping
effort *just for components* to address things like this. To ensure the
component issues near and dear to your heart are considered, please file
bugs at the Connect site. It really helps us prioritize the work and know
that we're doing what you're expecting.

Yes, we are addressing many dependency issues (to break dependencies for
footprint, to add new dependencies, etc...). The challenge here is that
sometimes a dependency is optional for some behavior of a feature but
required for other behavior of the same feature. By forcing a dependency it
sometimes means greater footprint for the customers that didn't want the
optional feature.
