I am reposting this question in hopes of getting an answer this time.
Stephan suggested applying the latest TR of Office 2003 and FP2003 which
was certainly a good idea but had no effect on the problem at hand. To wit:
I can use FP2003 to modify a brand new default.aspx for a WSS site, but
after adding any webparts, further attempts to modify the site receive:
"The server could not complete your request.
Contact your Internet service provider or Web Administrator to make sure
the server
has FrontPage extensions or SharePoint services installed.
For more specific information, click the Details button"
Clicking on the Details button results in a nice empty message box.
Removing all webparts does nothing to change this scenario.
I can recreate at will.
the same symptoms occur on all subsite default.aspx created from a
template generated from this original.
Is this a known bug?
Does anyone want to know about bugs?
