When I want to edit a file on the server, FP2003 sometimes opens a file on
my hard drive from the history contents folders. I have to close FP2003 when
it occurs, delete temp files and cookies from IE. It is very annoing. Why
does it happen and is there a way to prevent it from occuring?

Try open the web / site first, then once the site is open, then open the page/file.

Any other suggestions?
Sometimes I need to change a word, or just a few letters, or a date for
which "my method" (if working) is best suited. It does work most of the
time.
Why does FP2003 do it?

All of the FrontPage files are like a package. They relate to each other in
some way or another be it with menu's or shared boarders or other things. I
relate opening a FrontPage web to starting up your computer to edit a few
words in your favorite word processing application. You have to start your
PC before you can use any application on it. When making changes to a
FrontPage web even if it's just a simple text change in one page the whole
web needs to be opened in FrontPage.

If you don't like previous webs opening when you start FrontPage you can use
File/Close Site in FrontPage before closing the FrontPage application and
when starting it again it will open blank.

Not really a FrontPage issue.

You have 2 options:
1. Open FrontPage, then the web and then the page.

2. Open the page in your browser and click File > Edit with FrontPage.

Situation number 2 is the one I was referring to.

When I want to edit the page that is being viewed IE, I click File > Open
with Front Page. Mmost of the time FP 2003 does open the server version of
the page, but SOMETIMES it opens the one from the hard drive, and that's
annoying. Is there a way to prevent it by forcing FP 2003 to always open the
one from the server.

It is the FP issue, because I use it to edit the page, and FP soemtimes
opens the page from cache

Yes, always open the web the long way.
Open FP
Open Web/Site
enter the http server url

When working live on a server FP, will always work with a cached version
of the page.

Next time you open a page and it does this, click the Refresh Icon on
the toolbar.
