FP2003 : Confirmation Page

I made a confirmation page using FP2003. I inserted the form's textbox names
(e.g., firstname) into the confirmation page. When I completed the form,
submitted it, the confirmation page came back with the textbox names (e.g.,
firstname) instead of the desired result (e.g., John). What do I need to do
to correct this problem???

You have to insert a Custom Confirmation Field from the menu.

If you feel your current issue is a results of installing
a Service Pack or security update, please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services:
http://support.microsoft.com
If the problem can be shown to have been caused by a
security update, then there is usually no charge for the call.
==============================================

Thank you. There is no Custom Confirmation Field on the menu. But, there is
a Confirmation Field, which is what I used. I am using Jim Buyens' (MVP)
book "MS Office FP2003 Inside Out". It says nothing about a "Custom
Confirmation Field". Can you be more specific about how to find the "Custom
Confirmation Field"?

Sorry, Confirmation Field is the correct name.

Apology accepted. But, what do I do? I followed the book and it does not
work. So, what do I do now?

Make sure the fieldname exactly match those on the form, including case, also the form must be set
up to be processed by the FP Form Handler with the file extension of .htm or .html.

Thank you again for your reply. I did check the case and it is fine. By the
way, the html page must be saved with an .asp extension (not .htm or .html),
otherwise, it won't work at all on win2003 server/IIS6.0.

I'm open to other suggestions ...

The FP form confirmation webbot requires the page to be a .htm page

My goodness ... ok, that's what the previous person was trying to tell me,
but I didn't understand since the submission form needed to have an .asp
extension I assumed the confirmation page needed it, too. The book did not
say to use an .htm/.html extension. Thank you! ... gentlemen (Thomas &
Stefan) for your help and patience with someone who is a novice.

When a form uses an ASP form handler the confirmation page also has to
be written as an ASP page.
If the form uses the FP extensions for the handler, then the FrontPage
confirmation page should work as described.
What is the action in your <form> tag on the page with the form?

| Thank you again for your reply. I did check the case and it is
fine. By the

.htm or .html),
| otherwise, it won't work at all on win2003 server/IIS6.0.

Gentlemen (John, Ron, and others): Thanks for your help! It finally worked
with the .asp extension. I used the .asp extension first and it did not work
(I don't know why -- kinda' like my win2003 server/DNS, it works fine
sometimes and sometimes it don't work at all). I changed it to the
..htm/.html extension and it did not work. I changed it back to the .asp
extension and now it works (why I don't know)!!!!! ... for some unknow
reason. Wow ... thanks for being patience and helping me ... I was going
round and round on this one. Communicating this way is difficult because
what you type can be intreperted many different ways. Thank you to everyone
.... I learn a lot from these discussions!

When a form uses an ASP form handler the confirmation page also has to
be written as an ASP page.
If the form uses the FP extensions for the handler, then the FrontPage
confirmation page should work as described.
What is the action in your <form> tag on the page with the form?
