FP2003 Compatibility?

FrontPage 2000 preview would browse a page as IE4, I believe.

Well, now I've got FrontPage 2002 - what is the browser preview compatibility on FP2002?
Is it IE5.5, or maybe even IE6?

Thanks!

Bill.

FP preview, regardless of your FP version, uses the IE browser that you
currently have installed, most likely IE 6. If you have others, such as NS
and Firefox, you can preview in those, also.

No, I'm not referring to "Preview in Browser", I'm referring to previewing a page IN
FrontPage, using the Preview tab, next to the Normal and HTML view tabs.

The FP2000 browser is IE4, I believe. I'm wondering what browser compatibility the
FP2002 browser has.

It is whatever IE browser you have installed, with a few differences - hard
to say what they are, but webbots (such as forms, hitcounter) will override
the rendering somewhat.
This applies to all versions of FP from FP2000 onwards.
Use Preview in Browser to get a true preview.

Well, with IE6 installed, and FP2000, the FP2000 browser displays CSS as IE4. In
particular, because IE4 didn't fully support CSS2, it's true that the FP2000 browser
doesn't fully support CSS positioning, in exactly the same was that IE4 doesn't support
it, regardless if IE6 is installed on the computer or not.

Try it yourself and see.

I have FP2000 installed on Windows 98 running IE5.0

I see very little difference in rendering in Preview from that in IE7
browser running on Windows XP Pro, using Absolute and Relative positioning.
VML graphics are rendered as down-level .gif images, and CSS floats have
problems - but the same applies to Preview in (IE5) Browser. As far as I
can see there is no difference between Preview and Preview in Browser.

Now, if you are talking about Design or Normal View - the differences are
huge. CSS in FP2000 Normal view is very limited, and FP2003 Design View is
also limited in CSS rendition, but Preview seems to be identical to IE6.

Hmmm..., maybe you're right and it is normal view we're talking about. I've since
abandoned Win98SE with FP2000 for my Windows 2000 with FP2002.
