Has anyone else experienced Front Page 2003 shutting down in Vista when you
insert a hyperlink?

I have experienced FP2003 on Windows XP Pro lock up a couple of times
recently when creating a hyperlink. I'm hoping it was just a freak thing and
won't happen again.

Yes, I have the same problem... but I suppose MS will take their sweet time
with a service pack so we are forced to purchase new software like Expression
or Sharepoint.

Someone post a link to the service pack or patch when available.

Thanks
Mike

I did.
What's worse, nothing can be done about it. Bought Expression Web and live
in dual world now. I use FP2003 for updating/maintenance of my current
websites. Will try EW for new jobs and perhaps will redo one of the mini
websites.

I'm having the same problem in both FrontPage 2003 and Expression Web on my
Vista Business machine. From what I can tell, it happens when I am in the
"Insert Hyperlink" window and double-click a file to insert the hyperlink.
FrontPage crashes every time. If I'm careful to just single-click the file
(to select it) then click the OK button, it seems to work OK.

FP2003 crashes whether you click once or twice.
I was surpised to read that you experienced it with EP.

yes I get the same thing, so I am currently running 2 computers to do my job,
since front front page is alot of my day.

Yes, I am having that problem as well. Just bought a new HP laptop with
Vista. Seems very silly to have to run two machines. Expression is nice,
but there are a few things that are easier to do in FP2003, like insert Flash
presentations in tables.
I really hope the come out with a fix soon. Please post that link when
available.

Known bug - not fix yet from MS

And what would calling them or emailing them do for us at this point?
Let me save you the time you would waste by contacting MS
Support.......

This is from Feb. by the way and is the same response they gave last
weem as well.

"Thank you for requesting support for Microsoft FrontPage. My name is
Sony and I will be working with you to resolve this issue.

If I have understood your issue correctly the hyperlinks are not
working on the live site.
This is a current issue with Windows Vista that the FrontPage
hyperlinks do not work on the live server.

Our engineers are working on this issue right now and once it is
resolved a patch or an update will be released.

And as the development team is still working to get a fix or a patch
to resolve this issue. We do not know how long it will take to develop
the fix or a patch to resolve this issue. But we assure you that an
update will be given on the Microsoft website for you to check, so you
can visit the Micros
oft website frequently to check for any updates.
If you want me to give you a call send me an email at my email address
(e-mail address removed)
<mailto:[email protected]>
After you respond by posting a supplement to this case, you will
receive a response as quickly as possible. If you do not reply within
2 business days, we will assume you no longer require assistance with
this issue and your case will be closed. The closed case will be
reopened automatically should
you reply.

While it is true MS knows about the problem
- often the decision on whether to accelerate a SP or patch is driven by how many users are affected
Your calls / emails add to the "weight" of the issue and may help get a patch sooner

Have you found a solution to the problem yet? I am having the same problem.
The same FrontPage worked fine on my old XP. I can do everything except
insert the hyperlink.

As we've reported numerous times, there is no solution yet. Microsoft is
aware of the problem, but there is no time frame on a resolution.

I don't understand why Microsoft leaves us hanging out here so long. We buy
their products, and this is what we get.

And it is even wrose since the problem comes from their new OS

I cannot open the pages (HTM or HTML) in Vista with the front page program
even though they are listed. Any help?
