When I use FP2002 to connect to my host (in this case Microsoft) for a
"live" look at my site, several of the file names are duplicated.
For example, I'll "see" TWO filename.htm files. Not filename.htm and
filename1.htm, but 2 absolutely identical files. If I right-click and look
at properties, they are EXACTLY the same- date, time, size. I can open one
or the other but not both. If I delete one, they both go away. When I
republish the file from my PC, two show up again. When I look at the site on
my PC, there is only one of each of the files in question. Weird!
And it's not just .htm files. I also see duplicates of a .doc and .pdf file
as well.
I contacted Microsoft web hosting support and they only see one of files in
question. They looked with File Manager AND FP and still only see one. They
said, and I agree, that the problem is NOT on their server(s). They thought
it might have something to do with FP caching on my PC. Does this make sense
and if so, how do I clear the cache? Or could it be IE's cache?
By the way, the site behaves properly in my browser and a check with FP
reveals no broken hyperlinks.
Thanks!
