FP2002 Freezes Trying To Access External Sites

All of a sudden FP2002 is locking up whenever I try to
view one of my webpages that has an external webpage on
it. For instance if I had an inline frame that wanted to
show www.microsoft.com, FP would show "Requesting
data..." and just sit there. This started happening out
of the blue.

Check your IE Tools | Internet Option | Security and Advanced settings
regarding Inline frames.

My problem doesn't have anything to do with inline frames.
As soon as I try to open a webpage with an http link (ie.
outside of the website I am editing on my computer), FP
freezes.

Ok, you did mention IFrame below, but dose this happen with normal external
hyperlinks?

Also are you using Preview in Browser, Preview tab or Follow the link in
Normal View?

I'm not sure what "Follow the link in Normal View" is.
FP freezes when I open a page that has an external link
(not a hyperlink, a link that actually calls to the
internet for a page). This is when I am viewing with the
Preview tab not "Preview in Browser". It just started
happening too. I've used FP 2002 since it came out and
it never happened until this week. I also did a "Detect
& Repair" but it didn't help.

Thanks for your help by the way.

Rob: A couple of things to consider:

When You Click a Hyperlink in FrontPage Preview, the Hyperlink Does Not Work

Also, use File | Preview in Browser instead of Preview.

I made an error in my last reply. I do know what "follow
link in normal view" means. FP freezes as soon as I open
a page to edit it (in Normal view) if it has a link that
automatically opens on that page. I can no longer edit
my pages that have external links. In other words, I
can't even get to Preview in Browser any more. Obviously
I used to be able to edit them or I wouldn't have been
able to create them. For an example of one of my
preoblem pages, see
http://crang.com/rootsindexframe.htm . Sorry for the
confusion in my last post.

Make sure that you always have a open and accessibility network connection.
Have installed any firewall applications, or Windows / IE updates prior to
this problem?

I have a cable connection to the internet. I have used
Norton Firewall for 2 years. I have installed lots of
Windows/IE updates. Do you really think one of them
could have caused FP to break without having heard about
it from anyone else? Do you think uninstalling and
reinstalling FP would stand a better chance of fixing
things than just the detect and repair that I did?

a hyperlink is a link that calls to another web page.....there is no difference
hyperlinks are those internal to your site and external to your site.

follow the link in normal view, means, you can access the page/external site, if
you hold down SHIFT-key while clicking the link - all it is doing is following
the link to the site, and trying to download it to Frontpage (in otherwords, it
doesn't open your browser and load the page).

There is a difference, internal hyperlink are relative to the specific web,
external links are absolute and require that you have a open internet
connection.
