FP user administration issue on Apache

I am trying to create an author (Tools -> Server -> Admin Home -> Add
a user) on an Apache 3 server.

I enter the info but when I try to process the new user it returns the
following message: "The password file
"/home/xx/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.pwd" was not created by this
client program and cannot be edited safely using this client
program."

It is correct, the file was not created by MF-FP, it is the result of
using cpanel to add the extensions to the server... but I would make a
wild guess that cpanel was calling the MS software to do the actual FP
extension install. (I can check on that).

Any thoughts on how to fix this? I have no way to install the
extensions on the (remote) server except through cpanel... so if FP
does not like the file now, it never will.

Anyone have a sample service.pwd file from a Unix/Linux based machine
that I might be able to mimic?

Thanks

Needs to be done via the CPanel.

Nope, C Panel doesn't "call" microsoft software. FrontPage extensions for Apache are written
by Ready to Run Software.

Installing them via your CPanel, simply creates virtual paths from your domain account to
the extension files on the server, and also creates the files needed for FrontPage to
communicate with the server via http://
