Your questions are probably outside the scope of FrontPage or this
newsgroup. FrontPage uses standard UNC paths or standard HTTP to make
saves.
If you are having trouble saving across the network you probably have a
network related problem unrelated to FrontPage.
Though, I do have some suggestions (aside from find a windows networking
newsgroup);
- delete all unused or outdated shortcuts in the "Network Neighborhood" on
the affected computers. The 'save as' box parses all those shortcuts when
the box opens, so timeouts, bad or disconnected drives, or places the user
has no permission to access anymore will time out before giving the user
control again.
- make sure the network card is running in full-duplex mode. Opening that
box can cause a burst of network traffic that takes a bit to sort out and
will cause a half-duplex connection to appear to hang
- have the users connect via windows explorer first (browse across to the N:
drive first, THEN try to save with FrontPage) That may help.
- clear out all temporary folders including "frontpagetempdir", regular temp
files, internet explorer temp files, make sure the proxy settings for IE are
set to allow going to N: without detecting a proxy first, delete all .web
files on the computer (FrontPage will re-create as needed)
My opinion is that you don't have a FrontPage problem, you have a network
problem that only manifests via FrontPage.

Yes, but all other MS Office apps find N: OK
I've tried repaing FP, removing it and reinstalling it
Interestingly it only happens on one style of machine
ie the new ones with sata drives all the old ones work fine
