Reinstalling FP will not wipe out your data files. But, back them up to be
on the safe side.

| Thanks, I will follow your recommendations and reinstalling FP is the last
| thing I want to do. However, if it should eventually come down to that,
how
| should I approach saving and reimplementing the files from 5 years of work
| (e.g. all the files stored in the main website folder on the local hard
| drive)?
|
| I do have a clone (a mirror image backup) of the system's hard drive from
| prior to this issue coming up. I could restore it, but then we would lose
all
| the updates to our database, email and other work that has transpired
since
| it was created (our office mgr would "kill" me).
|
| Thanks again for your advice.
