FPorked great for over a year, but now FP hangs when I try to open a web
i.e. File > Open Web > and if I type anything in the bar, and click Open,
FP hangs with the hourglass there and after about 5 minutes, everything
locks.

I trried re-installing office and Repair function to no avail.

The Open function use to work. I can IMport ok, just can't Publish or open
web.

Find and delete the cmdui.prf file for FrontPage - this is the file that
stores your customizations and preferences for the FrontPage Menu and it
will get rebuilt, using the defaults, the next time you start FrontPage.

Also, delete the cached (and possibly corrupted) copies of your webs - Close
FrontPage, and do a Find | Files and Folders | Named *.web, and delete
them.

With FP closed, Search for and delete *.web files, all temp files, FP temp
folder.

I'd already tried deleting all the *.web files as that is
what the microsoft help article says for this error,
however I hadn't come across the solution to delete
the .prf file - I tried it and it worked.

So, after detecting and repairing, repair and
reinstalling, uninstalling and reinstalling, running scan
disk, defrag and virus scanning and about to take the next
step of reformatting my HDD, I have finally found the very
simple solution. Thanks very much for your help.
