FP200 - WIn2K

I've setup an alternate text editor to handle files such as .inc files
under "configure editors". When I exit FP, it loses the settings...
reliably, every time.

It does remember toolbar configurations. I am an admin (isn't everyone
? :-) so there are likely no priv issues.

In Configure Editors did you make it the default

Not sure what you mean... I did associate it with a specific file type
that was not previously listed. I also tried associating it with a
file type that was assigned to notepad and removed the original
assignments.

But did you set it as the default in that same dialog

There is no option in FP2002 name "set as default".

In the meantime, I do seem to have gotten it to "stick" by both
setting it to handle a "new" file type *and* setting it handle an
existing file type. Doing just one or the other didn;t work... I tried
it multiple times over several days.

Tools Options Configure Editors
Select your file type on left and the editor associated w/ it on the right
- if not there Select New Editor icon or [Alt][N]
Select Make Default Button
