I have been trying very hard to publish a webpage with a
form to my web hosting service and the support person
tells me that the _vti_bin folder is not being created
when I am publishing the web. I can't use FTP to publish
because it screws up the extensions on the server. Have
you heard of this and what do I need to do to fix it? I
even have the tech support guy scratching his head. I am
using FP2002 (10.2623.2625) on an XP machine.
Thanks for your help!

If they have the extensions setup correctly then the _vti_bin folder should
be created properly. Actually, your publishing should not be creating a
_vti_bin directory. That is created when the web server is extended with the
FrontPage Server Extensions. It's needed to publish so there is no way you
would actually be able to publish without it so the tech's response of you
are not getting it created when publishing is absurd. Basically, if there is
no _vti_bin then they don't have the extensions installed correctly. So long
as you never publish with FTP and only use http to publish, you should be
OK. It sounds though like you're doing everything correctly and your host is
not competent.

Hope this helps,
