this is a very complicated question and I hope to be complete and coherent.

i have my web pages with att where the space is divided into space allocated
with 5 different email areas connected by links.

I have a primary area and 4 secondary or support areas to my site.

I have two computers, all of my original information to support and change
my site is locatied on my win98 emachine - which I have not been able to
upload for the past weeks.(different posting)

So I have one other time downloaded my webs sites back from the online sites
into my computer after it crashed - So ok I thought I would try it again onto
my new xp compacq Good thought -I have the instructions that worked last
time(1999) and thought to do this to solve my access problems and get my site
updated.

Ok - I worked great on the first and primary site - then I tried it on the
second site and it did not work. I dont know wheher it is confusing the
second download with the first?? HELP PLEASE??

If the live/remote server has the FP extensions, then you need to open the site directly in FP via
File Menu | Open Web / Site and then select File Menu | Publish Web / Site to get a copy back on
your local machine.

this is the procedure that i use - I have now gotten 2 of my 5 webspaces to
download -the others just give me the index.htm and not any of the other
files.
1-connect to the web
2-open fp
3-create a new fp web
4-ok
5-import existing web
6-name your web
7-ok
8 <name and password> however -none is needed.
9-check "from a world wide web site"
10-type in the full url of the web page:
11-next
12- Uncheck all three boxes.
13-next
14 finish
FP will now locate your site and download all files - only it does not down
load all the files only one
Can you see a flaw in what I am doing? I have been posting with att
newsgroups but they ate not intimate with FP98. And have not been of much
help.

If the live/remote server has the FP extensions, do NOT use import, instead open the site directly
in FP via File Menu | Open Web/Site and then publish back to your local machine via File Menu |
Publish Web / Site and then entering the destination location.

thomas
please forgive for I am a novice and needs things a little more spelled out
the getting started screen and it has the websites I have been able to
download - I have been able to get 2 of the three - I have not figured out
why it will bring back those and not the others.
I tried to go to more webs and type in my url and the ok does not highlinght
and will not function.
So there is were I get stuck.

Also I have tried to download the three again and watched carefully and it
will download the index.htm - then if flashes remain htm and fized link. that
is where it finishes whitout dowloading the rest of the files.
I am sorry I dont know what a live remote server is? And dont know if it has
extenstions?

Oh No!
With all the mussing around I have been doing - One of the sites I have
gotten to download - What I did is to remove it from the list - it is still
in contents but I have been unable to get fp to recognise it I tried a couple
of things but there must be an easy way of just adding it back onto the list
- but have not found it yet.

First, do the live/remote site (server's) have the FP extensions installed? If not sure, you need to
contact your web host.

I have asked my server that I have discussing this problem with and they said
'no but since I am not editing on line this is not an issue.'

It does make a difference! When there are no extensions and you have to import the site, you loose
all FP configuration info, the navigation structure of the web, etc. so you have to recreate the
navigation structure, apply any theme, etc. in you new local copy.

ok - I did have to reapply the themes which was not problem and then I will
reupload - since there is not extensions - keep in mind that my website is in
five different areas under 5 different titles and are connected thru links.
If you would like to review these here are the addys: - I have successfully
uploaded 2 of these and not the others - if there was a problem with no
extensions would there be problems uploading all the sites and not just 3??

http://stitchnframe.home.att.net
http://vicher.home.att.net
http://knitter.home.att.net
http://springberrykreek.home.att.net
http://crossstitch6000.home.att.net
the first and the third have been successfully uploaded from the web to my
computer - the others I am having the problem with.

You only have 1 real site at
http://stitchnframe.home.att.net

The others are just 1-2 splash pages w/ links to http://stitchnframe.home.att.net
(the last site is an empty page)

Just Publish your main site that you have downloaded from http://stitchnframe.home.att.net to all 5 sites (or to 5 different disk
based webs where you can create a unique splash page for each and then publish each of them to each of your "sites"

PS
The last two links on your splash pages are incorrect
For example
http://stitchnframe.home.att.net/index#shipping
should be
http://stitchnframe.home.att.net/index.htm#shipping
Same w/ the other one (over 12,000...)

You also have links to knitter/xmaskits.htm that are broken at http://springberrykreek.home.att.net/ and http://vicher.home.att.net/
