how do i correct this. it used to show my computer name as host.

Sounds like you don't have your web open, only a page.
or
There's an issue with IIS on your machine.

this happens when i try to create a site from a template, i choose the
template, and specify location of the new
site--http://<--nohost-->/mysite.hit ok and it tells me--cant find web
server at no host. check proxy settings. i dont know how to do this.

you named your computer 'host'?

try http://localhost/mysite
(if you're running a server on your machine)

if no server then you'd create a disc-based web at something like
c:\xxx\My Webs\mysite

i had to go to the control panel/admin services/IIS/find your puter name or
# --expand the left side to see web sites--on the right side it wil list
default site, highlite it and directly above it on the title bars are 3
icons for running stop and pause. push the icon for run.(reboot)??
