FP 2003 requires files to be published after publishing them to my

I am finding this happenning after having to re-format my HDD. Apparently,
the synchronizing data between my local files and my website files are now
different, even after deleting the website and re-publishing with FP 2003.
This does not occur when publishing the same website to my HDD. Any advise?
Thanks in advance.

Did you do a full publish yet?

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes, indeed, I have tried publishing the full
website several times. FP 2003 does publish correctly all files, and they
can be viewed normally. The problem is that FP does not associate the files
published with the ones locally, even right after publishing them.

After re-formatting my HDD, and re-instaling all my programs, I simply
published my web using FP 2003. This is when I noticed this produced the
problem described above. I then deleted all website content and published
again with FP. Same problem.

Following a suggestion I read in this forum, I moved my local web directory
to the desktop, renamed it, deleted the data in the website, opened FP,
imported the website (renamed again) from the desktop using FP, and then
published the website with FP 2003. Same problem again.

BTW, the first thing I did when the problem started was to to have FP repair
itself.

I have also inquired extensively with the website services provider (Domain
Direct) and they assert that FP extensions are functioning within parameters.

Please help.

By "full publish" did you publish the entire web from the server to a
location on your hard drive, and then start making changes??

Negative. I have always published from my HDD, i.e., from C:\Documents and
Settings\AEP\My Documents\My Webs\idpp.org, to the website server host and,
as a backup, to another directory in my HDD.

It is when I publish to the website that the problem occurs. Not so to the
local directory. Sometimes I even publish without having made any changes to
the data, and I still get the same results: still a lot of files that need
to be published right after publishing them to the website.

For example, I have just published again to the website and to the backup
directory in my HDD. Still get files to be published in the website server
right after publishing them, but complete synchronization in the local backup
directory.

Thanks for helping.

What we are trying to say is that after you reformatted your HD, you should
have done a FULL Publish from your server to your hd.

Thanks for the info. No, I have always published the other way around, that
is, from my HDD to the website.

Following your advise, I just erased all my local files, and then prceeded
to download the files from the web, remote to local. Still the same mismatch.

Any ideas?

FP does not support local disc based webs w/ url type extensions like idpp.org
- your local web should be renamed w/o the .org or replace the dot w/ an under_score (idpp_org)

1) Open you local web w/ the problem - File Open Site and browse to
C:\Documents and Settings\AEP\My Documents\My Webs\idpp.org
Right click the root and select Delete Site
2) Create a new local web - File New (one page web site) and enter the path as
C:\Documents and Settings\AEP\My Documents\My Webs\idpp_org
3) Select the Remote Web Site View
- in Remote Web Site Properties set Remote Web Site to FP and enter your online site URL as
http://www.yoursitename.org (or http://www.idpp.org/)
- in the Publishing tab set Publish to All pages
- select Ok, then Publish selecting Remote to Local

After publishing All you can reset your Publishing properties to Changed pages only

Dear Stefan,

Thank you for your advise. I have tried to follow it to the letter, but I
must still be doing something wrong, as the same problem still persists.

This is what I have done. I opened the idpp.org website in my local disk
using MS Windows Explorer, and proceeded to use the command "delete", as I
could not find "Delete Site" either in MS Windows Explorer or by opening the
file in MS Internet Explorer. I then also deleted, using the same procedure,
the site backup copy I had created in my HDD, as it had the same name.

Then, I used FP Cleaner to clean any saved files, and only then proceeded to
create the new one-page website, C:\Documents and Settings\AEP\My
Documents\My Webs\idpp. Next step was to do a full publish from remote to
local.

Upon completion of the publish, I still find that I have a a lot of files
still requiring to be published.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help.

Dear Rob,
Thanks for clarifying this to me. I proceeded to open FP, deleted the
complete website locally by right-clicking on the mouse at the root
directory, created a new, one-page website, and did a full publish from
remote to local.
Milliseconds after it finished, FP indicated it needed to publish a large
number of files. What could be the matter?

Thanks again.

| Dear Stefan,
|
| Thank you for your advise. I have tried to follow it to the letter, but I
| must still be doing something wrong, as the same problem still persists.
|
| This is what I have done. I opened the idpp.org website in my local disk
| using MS Windows Explorer, and proceeded to use the command "delete", as I
| could not find "Delete Site" either in MS Windows Explorer or by opening
the
| file in MS Internet Explorer. I then also deleted, using the same
procedure,
| the site backup copy I had created in my HDD, as it had the same name.
|
| Then, I used FP Cleaner to clean any saved files, and only then proceeded
to
| create the new one-page website, C:\Documents and Settings\AEP\My
| Documents\My Webs\idpp. Next step was to do a full publish from remote to
| local.
|
| Upon completion of the publish, I still find that I have a a lot of files
| still requiring to be published.
|
| Any ideas?
|
| Thank you for your help.

Hi all,

I am having the same problem as apacheco.

I publish with FP to a site with FP extensions, with no errors.
A few minutes after publishing, FP says that some files, always the same
ones, are out of sync.

ISP says everything is ok on his side.

Any clues?

Thanks
Alain

Drag the unsynced files over to the remote site
- many files w/ dynamic content can show up as conflicts when they are OK
Also delete all web cache files before opening FP
- try the tool at http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm
