FP 2003 no longer retains RECENT stuff, (lpage and site history), lost of Options and Page options,

For the settings issue:
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with
Expression Web Designer and SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the function that restores default toolbars and menus.

For the recent sites and recent files issue, do you have an office application or windows
set to "Not"
save Recent Document History. If so this can prevent FP from displaying recent files and
recent sites.

It's a registry setting found here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
The ValueName is: NoRecentDocsHistory
Set the value to 0 ( Zero ) to Save recent docs history, which is the default value
Set it to 1 to "Not" save recent docs history.

Hi Steve, thanks for responding.
I found
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
but there is not "NoRecentDocsHistory" in there

I did "FP CLEANER" (which I use from time to time anyhow) and rebooted, and
it did not work either.

AL

One had recent files and one had recent webfolders previously used.

That is also a fuction the doesnt work anymore.. the two RECENTS in the file
menu.
There IS history in the RECENT sub-menus, but they dont OPEN when clicked.
The OPEN LAST WEB deal doesnt work anymore either in OPTIONS
When I clickFILE | OPEN SITE, FP defaults to "My NetWork places" which it
never did.

Baffling

About the only other thing I can think of:
Go here: http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
and download and install Regseeker.
Uninstall FrontPage
Reboot
Make sure RegSeeker is set to save backups.
Run the Regseeker Registry clean up functions.
Then using Windows Explorer browse to:
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch and delete the entire contents of the Prefetch folder.
( don't worry windows will recreate what it needs when it needs it )
Reboot.
Reinstall FrontPage.
