We have a small website that was created several years ago with our copy of
FP 2002 on another computer on our network. I've reinstalled FP on my
computer and fully updated it but I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking at
when I download the webpages and files from the web server on which they
reside across our ISP's cloud.

When I access the web server I put in our user name and password and it
shows me the folders and files for each page in a tree structure. I have
made all the corrections that we need to for now and they appear correctly on
my screen. When I'm observing them on my screen I THINK I'm looking at the
copy of the webpages cached on my computer but I can't find where they are on
my hard drive. They aren't in the Front Page folder under Program Files.
Are they residing on the web host's server?

Also, when I choose to publish the newly updated pages the ftp transfer ends
in a "550 Access is denied." message even after entering our user name and
password again. Our web host's tech people say they can upload to the server
but, of course, they're not on our network at the office.

Can anyone give me a little guidance here?

Thanks.

If you have accessed the web server and made changes to each page, then once
saved, your web site should be updated. What may be timing out is publishing
those changes back to your hard drive. Does the web site reflect the changes
that you've made?

As it turns out it does appear that the tree structure that I'm seeing is
actually on the host's web server so the updates are taking place. I viewed
the web page in IE7 but had to hit F5 to refresh the page and the changes
appeared then.

I also had a friend direct me to access the ftp site through IE7. This
results in a error page but then you go to the Page pull down menu and choose
"Open FTP site in Window Explorer". You then put your user name and password
in and you can view the web page's tree structure.

In talking with the administrator for the web server he said my user name
had full control over the folder so I'm still in the dark regarding the 550
error. Looking at the log after a publishing event it has a long list of
"Failed to delete folder 'x'" and ends with the final 550 Access is denied.
This appears to be some kind of rights issue and it may go away when I blow
away this old web page and put our new one up there. This old web page was
created on another computer on our network so I'll wait and see if this is
the case.

Thanks.
