FP 2002 vs FTP or generic HTML editor

I have lost all the items on my navigation page with an existing
published web. It is probably because I used FTP to transfer all the
files of the wb to my local harddrive before my web host quit.

In the past the host told me to use FP's publish function, when
transfering either to server or to local PC. Problem is I'm often not
at home with my copy of FP when I need to update the pages.

Is there a decent WYSIWYG HTML editor that can allow modification of
individual pages after a web has been set up on the server?

Thanks all,
Peter

If you are using FP components and hosted on a FP enabled web server, then
you have to use FP to manage the content.

If no FP components and no FP extensions, then you can use any application
that can download and then re-upload the updated content.

Or

Look for a web host the provide the ability to create template based web
site where you would access a control panel from any browser to maintain
your content.

Thomas,
Thank you for the reply, and it seems you are right.

Though my present server has FP extensions and FP should do what I'd
like, I have many times had to fiddle with site navigation functions
in FP just to make them work as advertized. Ditto for subsequent,
monthly updates on the same site

I need more flexibility in site design than the templates methods
provide. I would like something like an HTML editor handles site
navigation bars better than FP.

Personally, I always create my own navigation structure manually using text
links and FP Include Pages, this way I have complete control over the site
navigation.

Under FP Help you would search for:

Display a page on another page

I avoid using the following FP features/functions:

Shared Borders
Themes
Navigation
Thumbnails
Guest book
Discussion web

I do use FP for all development work, publishing and general management of
most site content. 99.9% of all of my project are ASP based, database driven
web sites.
