Why do I get this message when I update and try to save a
page while online.
"Microsoft FrontPage has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the invonvenience.
If you were in the middle of something , the information
you were working on might be lost."
I can create and save a page on my Computer,no problem.
Talked to Microsoft support, deleted some .web temp
files, amongs other things. Un/and Re-installed FrontPage
but the problem does not go away. The Servers have FP
Extension 5 installed so that is not it.
Has anybody ever had this propblem and can help me.
Please!
Compaq 5310 US WindowsXP Home Edition

Search for and delete the hidden .web files from the Start Menu | Search
with FP closed, and also empty your FP Temp folder located inside your
Windows Temp folder.

Thank you for your reply, I deleted the .web hidden files
there is nothing in the FP Temp, MS Support had me do
that yesterday. It still closes FP. as soon as I save a
page. Some Components on the local C drive like a header
in _border, or Navigation bar does not get added to a
page when I publish that page.
I have several Websites and all of them are affected by
it.
http://www.realestateon-line.net , http://realestateol.com
http://super2000.com ,
The server is Value Web

5. Make sure you do not have any missing table, cell, body, html tags from

-----Original Message-----
1. Locally make sure you are always opening a web and
not just a page.

I always have the web open in FrontPage that I work on.
2. Remove all shared borders from your web or pages, then with a web open
re-apply your shared borders.

That's the problem, I tried to remove them butas soon as
I save a page, it closes FP. I tried to publish a page
from the local web without shared border on it, but it
would not accept it.
3. Host must have the FP2002 extensions install, for the custom
navigation/link bar.

Value Web has FP 2002 extensions installed. I reinstalled
it in the controll panel
4. Remove all base target tags from your pages in HTML view. (ex. <BASE
target="contents"> on super2000.com). I could not find

5. Make sure you do not have any missing table, cell, body, html tags from
your main and shared border pages.

I can read and know some of html, but got spoiled by FP.
I am using it since 1997 and never had this problem.

I see that some other posts show similar problems. I hope
somebody finds a fix to it

The general process is the same for Win XP
(except some of the folder names will be different)
for example WINNT\ would probably be Windows\
