Hi, I just got a new Laptop, with Vista Home. I wonder if I can use
FP2002 on it.

Mary

Hi Mary,

From what I have heard and read-NO-frontpage 2002 will not work in Vista.
I tried it myself and I could not get it going myself.
Most people are going with Microsoft Expressions and or Dreamweaver.
Hope this helps-:)

That's crazy! Why wouldn't Microsoft support its own 6 year old program in
its new operating system? Okay, stupid question. Just one more reason for me
to keep running XP.

FP2003 seems to work without too many oddities with Vista/SP1.

FWIW, MS says Office 2003 and 2007 work on Vista, not 2002. AFAIK,
they never formally acknowledged that there were issues with FP before
SP1, but they do appear to have fixed the issue.

Given the choice, stick with XP. There are no discernable advantages
to Vista and there are lots of disadvantages.

I've read a few posts -- mostly a year or more old -- regarding FP2002 and
Vista, but am still confused.

Can I run FP2002 on my Vista Home Premium/SP1 machine?

I guess my assumption is that I "want" to run FP2002 in Vista. I really
don't want to have to learn a new program like Expression. I published my
website from my XP machine upstairs, but sure would like to be able to use it
on my Vista machine downstairs.

Hi Bill,

From what I know, you can not run FP2002 on a Vista machine. I read there
was a 'crack' sort of speak for Vista to enable FP 2002, but I never found it.
Microsoft Expressions is almost like Frontpage-only cleaner and does alot
more, but the set up and show are pretty close.
Hope this helps-:)

Kathleen,

Can I run FP 2002 on Vista Home Premium / SP1? The answers to that question
that I've found (here and other places) mostly suggest that I cannot; but
those are just normal users like me, not people like yourself that work for
MSFT.

I haven't even installed it on my Vista machine yet because I was afraid I'd
be creating problems.

Thanks.

Bill

That is the problem, but I have Vista with service pack 1, and still crashed.
Go and install, you won't hurt anything, and if it works for you-you're good
to go-:)
If it don't-just un-install.
Rick

I am an IT Tech-not a 'normal user'-LOL
