I have struggled with FP2000 but managed to build a website with my
'out-of-print' book on it. It took a long time and most of the official
help was useless. 'It does not do what it says on the tin'

I now wish to rename this web from 'myweb38' to 'newagent' before
publishing it.

The help says 'Tools'- 'web settings'- 'General tab'- 'rename in name
box'- 'apply' - 'Ok'. Tried that 50 times or more.

Oh no! It just keeps defaulting to 'myweb38'

If I try to do a name change anywhere else it keeps telling me there is
no web called 'newagent'

How do I change the name?

It makes no difference what you local web folder is named.
Your local web can be named wicked-witch-of-the-west and you can publish it to
www.yellow-brick-road.com or any domain name you choose.

Thanks Andrew.

I tried that before and it did not work. when I tried to open renamed
web FP2000 just told me it didnt exist.

I may have been trying to rename it in the 'Open Web' window.

I have renamed it in Windows Exploder and it seems to work OK.

Thanks to all for prompt replies

Open myweb38 web in FP, then File Menu | Publish web and enter c:\newagent.

Better to name it in Web Settings | General - Web Name: xxxx (you do this
with your local web opened)
However, like Steve said you can name it anything on your local
machine...anything at all -
